Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sing Suku visited the CID headquarters on October 21 for an event. Refreshment boxes containing cakes and samosa for the CM were bought by the department from the Hotel Radisson Blu in Lakkar Bazar. The samosa boxes meant for the CM, however, were distributed to the CM’s staff owing to a series of administrative miscommunications. What followed was ruckus and an internal investigation by the intelligence agency as it branded the goof up as “anti-government” per media reports.
Amid all the cacophony, the CM quipped to reporters that the media is unnecessarily harping on the issue when the inquiry by the CID was not on misplaced samosa but rather the misbehavior of concerned staff.
Meanwhile, Ranjan Ojha, the DG of CID, remarked that the issue was politicized. The official claimed that “CM toh tali cheezien nahi khate; Samosa toh bilkul he nahi khate.” (CM doesn’t consume fried stuff; definitely does not eat samosas.) Refreshments were mentioned only during the chai with the officials when the intended samosa boxes didn’t arrive. The DG said this is entirely an internal matter of CID and urged the media and others to not politicize the issue. He surmised, “Yeh CID ka matter hai, government se iska koi lena dena nahi hai.”
I deserve an appraisal for reporting this, with a straight face.
Missing Samosa to be probed by Himachal CID.
I hope a serious angle emerges of (may be) corruption, discipline, etc because otherwise….pic.twitter.com/2UM7oYJoFz
