Irish Vlogger Debunks Claims About ‘Dirty’ Delhi; Netizens Divided Over His Experience

A foreigner’s Instagram post about life in Delhi has recently gone viral, capturing the attention of people across social media. Sean Hammonds, the vlogger, shared his candid take on Delhi, challenging some of the misconceptions people expressed to him before he moved there.

In his post, Hammonds revealed that he had heard from many that “Delhi is so dirty and dangerous.” Yet, his own experiences in the Indian capital have given him an entirely different perspective.

According to Hammonds, some people both within and outside India warned him against living in Delhi, suggesting it wasn’t an ideal destination for visitors. “I’ve heard people from all over saying that Delhi isn’t the place to go if you want to visit India,” he wrote. “Even other Indians have told me that, but I couldn’t disagree more.”

In his post, Hammonds expressed his love for the vibrant and colorful life in Delhi, describing it as both chaotic and comforting. He admires the colorful streets, delicious food, and warm hospitality of the local people, which have all helped him feel at home in the bustling metropolis. “It’s a bit chaotic, but nowhere is perfect,” he wrote, adding that he thrives within the lively energy that makes Delhi what it is.

Hammonds is also captivated by Delhi’s architecture and historical landmarks, highlighting monuments such as Humayun’s Tomb, the Lotus Temple, and the grand Akshardham Temple.

Hammonds’ post has sparked discussions online, with many people commenting on how the vlogger’s positivity and open-minded view offer a refreshing take on Delhi. But others argued that he is having a good time because he is a male and white.

“You’re experiencing it in a point of a white, male, solo traveller. It is a male dominant society there. As a brown girl who loves to solo travel, I can guarantee you, if I chose to travel Delhi alone, my experience will no where near be the same unfortunately,” a user commented.

“As an Indian woman, I absolutely despise Delhi and literally everywhere else in India is amazing but Delhi,” wrote another.
