Director Sukumar’s Pushpa set new box office records back in 2021, that too at a time when the film industry was struggling to attract an audience to theatres. Its much-anticipated sequel is, Pushpa 2: The Rule, is gearing up for a release this year and is easily one of the most hyped movies of the year in India. Apart from setting new box office records, the lead star of the franchise, Allu Arjun is also breaking new records in terms of remuneration.
Vijay Thalapathy was earlier in news this year for charging Rs 200 crore for his double role in G.O.A.T, highest for any Indian actor. This was confirmed by producer Archana Kalpathi in an interview with Gallata Plus. However, if reorts are to be believed, Allu Arjun has now beat Vijay Thalapathy to become the highest-paid actor in India.
As per a report by Track Tollywood, Allu Arjun is taking home a massive cheque of Rs 300 crore for his role in Pushpa 2. This surpasses the record previously held by Vijay Thalapathy.
Meanwhile, Pushpa 2: The Raj was Initially slated to hit theatres on August 15 this year but was postponed to December 6. The movie will also see the return of Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. Initially, there were speculations about various actresses including Triptii Dimri, Janhvi Kapoor, Disha Patani and Shraddha Kapoor, being considered for the special song. However, Sreeleela was later finalised for an item song.
