Vicky Kaushal’s First Look As Lord Parashurama In Mahavatar Unveiled; Set For 2026 Release

Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal is set to take on the iconic role of Lord Parashurama in the upcoming epic Mahavatar. The first look of Kaushal in his new avatar was revealed on Wednesday stirring excitement among fans. Directed by Amar Kaushik, known for the hit Stree 2, and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Mahavatar is planned for a Christmas 2026 release.

Mahavatar is expected to begin production in November 2026, once Kaushal wraps up his current project, Love & War, under the direction of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

According to a source, Kaushal was on the lookout for another major project after completing his work with Bhansali, News18 reported. Dinesh Vijan’s production company, Maddock Films, approached him with a larger-than-life script centered around Parashurama, a revered figure in Indian mythology known as the sixth avatar of Vishnu.

Kaushal’s recent film choices have showcased his range when it comes to storytelling. Last year, he starred in Sam Bahadur, a biopic on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and later starred in a comedic role in Bad Newz.

In the coming months, Kaushal will be seen in Chhava, another Maddock Films production, where he portrays Chhatrapati Sambhaji, the son of Maratha king Shivaji. Chhava is currently scheduled for a December release.
