The 60th US presidential election is a nail-biting final between Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her Republican rival Donald Trump. The 60-year-old Indian-origin Kamala Harris is currently serving the nation as its 49th vice president, alongside president Joe Biden, while the 78-year-old billionaire real estate mogul, Donald Trump, served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021 before losing to Joe Biden.
The runup to the 2024 American presidential election was quite some reality telly drama, with unprecedented social media coverage involving a bumping Biden bowing out of the race after a series of gaffes during his campaign, Kamala Harris stepping in for the Democrats, assassination attempts on Trump involving a scratch to his earlobe that mysteriously disappeared, and billionaire Elon Musk playing second fiddle to Donald Trump, going as far as endorsing him on rallies and also rewarding a $1 million sweepstake for swing state voters. The Tesla boss has already dolled out $16 million in his contentious giveaway.
The election was held on November 5, and the ballots are being counted during press time.
